Cal State LA’s Parking Services is a self-supporting entity that does not receive state general funds to operate, maintain and construct new parking facilities. Parking Services has launched a new parking management system that will include the implementation of virtual permits to replace parking hangtags. This system conversion will improve and streamline the parking permitting process by using license plate recognition technology. Starting the Spring 2020 semester, you will no longer need to display a physical permit. You will only need to register the vehicle parked on campus. All parkers must have a valid parking permit at all times when parking in a Cal State LA lot. Faculty, staff, and students must note the signs displayed at every parking lot in order to avoid citations. It is the responsibility of all drivers to know and understand the University parking rules and regulations. Parking regulations are enforced 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Please obey all posted signs and/or curb markings.
Semester and 30-day permits can be purchased at calstatela.aimsparking.com or through the MyCalStateLA Portal.
A service fee for all credit card purchases will apply.
Important Note on Imposition of Parking Occupancy Tax- Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Cal State LA will be required by the city of Los Angeles to collect a 10% parking occupancy tax on all campus parking fees. This tax applies to all daily, hourly, monthly, and semester permits. For example, the total cost of student semester permits will increase by $22 due to the addition of the tax. On-campus resident parking is exempt from this tax. You can view all adjusted spring 2023 permit rates below. The new tax is the result of a 2019 California Supreme Court ruling that concluded that charter cities could require state colleges and universities to impose the tax. Cal State LA does not keep any revenue generated from the tax; it is collected by the University and remitted to the city. For more information visit our Parking Occupancy Tax FAQ's Page.
Students can purchase a semester permit, a 30-day student permit, or a daily permit.
Faculty & Staff can purchase a semester parking permit or daily permit at calstatela.aimsparking.com or through the MyCalStateLA Portal. Qualifying Faculty and Staff may register for Cal State LA Parking Services' Pre-Tax Parking Permit Deduction Plan. This plan allows for full-time Cal State LA staff and tenured faculty to deduct parking fees monthly. To qualify, faculty and staff must have continuing appointments that begin in the Summer Session or Fall Semester and end in June to qualify. To enroll in payroll deduction complete the Parking Payroll Deduction Authorization online. Submissions will be reviewed by Parking Services prior to issuing a permit. Submissions can take up to 3 business days to review and approve. The first month of parking must be paid for in advance. Parking fees will be deducted for the month from the prior pay period. To make changes or to opt out of the payroll deduction program, employees must complete the Payroll Deduction Update Form. All changes must be made prior to the 7th day of the month to affect the deducted pay period. Parking Services submits requests to the State Controller's office to deduct fees. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the employee to inform Parking Services of changes to payroll status, bargaining unit, separation, or any other change that will affect the payment of parking fees. If at any time it is discovered that the faculty or staff on Parking Payroll Deduction does not meet the qualifications, separated, or deductions cannot be completed, the parking permit may be deactivated and the employee may be removed from the payroll deduction program. The employees will be held responsible for any outstanding parking fees owed.
New changes affecting Payroll Deduction Parking -The State Controller's Office (SCO) can no longer process retroactive refunds. SCO can only process refunds for employees whose deduction is effective for a future month.
